Welcome to all non-Dutch speakers! I appreciate your interest in following my blog.
I arrived here in Nitzana, along the Israeli border with Egypt, Wednesday. Thursday I joined a group of four volunteers to help a farmer to build a fence for his sheep and goats. He is a veterinarian and treats goats and camels. He was glad to receive our help as the chore needed more than one pair of hands.
Yesterday, Sunday, was a national holiday: Purim. This is the day where the story of Esther and Mordechai is read in full. We were invited to a Purim party in a village nearby. We did not stay the full length due to rain.
As a result we went to the place where on October 7 many people were gathered at the Nova festival, which was an event with music and dancing for mainly young people. There is a patch there where the Jewish National Fund planted hundreds of trees in memory of those who were killed. There are also pictures of those missing. A very sober place right in the middle of a field, partly woods.
I will leave it to this for now. Keep following this blog!
